The debate around Nuclear Power is set to intensify over the next few months with most major poslitical parties suggesting it is the only way of meet the energy gap that is being predicted for 2030 onwards. Plans to invest more deeply in greener energy sources are likely to be shelved while the Nuclea programme is relaunched using a subsidiesed privatge sector.
However, the long tern risks of nuclear power are clear and won’t go away quickly. The BBC reported today that farms in Cumbria affected by fall out from the Chernobyl diasaster in 1986 have finally been given the all clear 26 years on. Read more on the BBC site.
